Taylor Soft Serve Tune-Up Kits: Which Kit Fits Your Machine and When to Replace It

Match your Taylor soft serve machine to the right tune-up kit, see which parts Taylor's manuals say to replace every 3 months, and order genuine parts from TFI in Canada.

Last updated: October 22, 2026

Taylor's operator manuals call for replacing a soft serve machine's scraper blades, driveshaft seal, freezer door gasket and O-rings every 3 months. A Taylor tune-up kit groups the wear parts for one model, or one pump, under a single part number, so you can order them together instead of hunting for seals one at a time. This guide matches every current Taylor soft serve model to its tune-up kit, shows exactly which parts Taylor's manuals list for each model, and links each part to the TFI parts shop.

Not sure which model you have, or want a technician to run the tune-up for you? Contact TFI and our factory-trained team in Ontario and Atlantic Canada will confirm the right kit.

Taylor's 3-Month Parts Replacement Schedule

Each Taylor soft serve manual in this guide includes the same rule: wear parts get replaced every 3 months, and brushes get inspected every 6 months and replaced at least once a year. The Taylor C712 operator's manual lists 12 parts on the 3-month line alone. Between scheduled tune-ups, the manuals tell operators to "dispose of O-rings and seals if they are worn, torn, or fit too loosely, and replace with new ones."

Here is what each manual lists for replacement every 3 months:

Brushes sit on a separate line in each manual: inspect them every 6 months, and replace them at least annually, sooner if bristles are worn or bent.

Taylor's manuals are stricter than general trade advice. Industry guidance often cites seal tune-ups every six months, but Taylor's own schedule for its soft serve machines is every three.

That general guidance comes from Foodservice Equipment & Supplies, which notes that when seals are neglected, mix can leak out of the freezing chamber, potentially compromising the motors and gearbox. A tune-up kit is the cheapest insurance against that repair.

Which Taylor Tune-Up Kit Fits Your Machine?

Find your model in the first column, then order the kit beside it. Every kit below is a genuine Taylor part, and the compatible models come from each kit's listing in the TFI shop. Our guide to the 12 best Taylor soft serve machines covers the specs of each current model.

What to Order Alongside the Kit

A tune-up runs on more than the kit. Scraper blades are on the same 3-month line, brushes wear on their own schedule, and every O-ring needs the right lubricant. Check each kit's listing for its exact contents, then add the parts below for your model.

How to Run a 3-Month Tune-Up

A tune-up follows the same disassembly as a full brush-clean, with new parts going in instead of the old ones. Plan it for a low-volume window.

  1. Drain and rinse. Drain the mix, then rinse the freezing cylinder and hopper with warm water until it runs clear.

  2. Power off and disassemble. Turn off the main power, then remove the freezer door, beater assembly, driveshaft and, on pump models, the pump.

  3. Strip the old wear parts. Remove every O-ring, gasket, seal, bearing and scraper blade on Taylor's 3-month list for your model, and discard them.

  4. Brush-clean and sanitize. Brush-clean every part and opening, then sanitize following your local food code.

  5. Install the new parts. Fit the kit's seals and O-rings and new scraper blades, lubricating each O-ring with the correct Taylor Lube.

  6. Reassemble and sanitize again. Reassemble, sanitize the assembled machine, then prime with fresh mix.

Our step-by-step Taylor C712 cleaning guide, with video, shows the disassembly in detail.

Heat Treatment Machines: The C709 and C716

Heat treatment machines change the cleaning schedule, not the parts schedule. Taylor's C709 heat treatment cycle keeps dairy mix safe for up to 28 days before a full disassembly and brush-clean, and the control panel counts down the days until brush-cleaning is required. Taylor's manuals still say to consult your governing food code for the maximum number of days allowed between brush-clean cycles. The C716 and C708 are also heat treatment models, with their own tune-up kits listed above.

The 3-month parts list still applies. The C709 manual lists scraper blades, driveshaft seal, freezer door gasket, front bearing, draw valve O-ring, mix feed tube O-ring and air orifice O-ring for replacement every 3 months. Heat treatment machines take the heat treatment brush kit and High Performance Taylor Lube rather than the standard formula.

Signs Your Machine Needs a Tune-Up Before 3 Months

Taylor's schedule is a maximum interval, not a minimum. Run a tune-up early if you see any of these:

  • Mix leaking at the door or driveshaft: usually a worn O-ring, gasket or driveshaft seal.

  • Product too firm, or slow to freeze: worn scraper blades lose contact with the cylinder wall.

  • O-rings that are flattened, torn or loose in their groove: the manual's rule is to replace them on the spot.

  • Bristles that are bent, flattened or missing: a worn brush cannot clean the mix inlet and draw valve openings properly.

Our soft serve machine maintenance tips include a full symptom-to-cause troubleshooting table.

When to Call a Technician in Ontario and Atlantic Canada

Most 3-month tune-ups can be run by a trained operator with the right kit. Anything involving refrigeration, the beater drive motor, electrical controls or a repeating fault code needs a factory-trained technician.

TFI services Taylor soft serve machines across Ontario, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador, with 24/7 soft serve machine repair using genuine OEM parts. Technicians work out of our Mississauga and Dartmouth locations. TFI Total Care bundles planned maintenance, reactive service calls and training for one monthly fee, so the 3-month tune-up happens on schedule without your staff running it. Submit a service request to book one.

A machine on schedule keeps earning: Taylor soft serve programs deliver 70-80% gross profit with 6 to 18 month payback, and a tune-up kit costs less than a summer weekend with the machine down.

FAQs

How often should I replace parts on a Taylor soft serve machine?

Every 3 months for wear parts, according to Taylor's operator manuals. That covers scraper blades, the driveshaft seal, freezer door gasket, draw valve and mix feed tube O-rings, and on most models the front bearing and prime plug O-ring. Brushes are inspected every 6 months and replaced at least once a year.

What is a Taylor tune-up kit?

A Taylor tune-up kit is a single part number that groups the wear parts for one model or one pump, so you can replace them together at the 3-month interval. Kits are model-specific: the C712 and C722 kit is different from the C713 and C723 kit, for example. Check each kit's listing for its exact contents.

Which tune-up kit fits a Taylor C712?

The Taylor C712 takes the Tune Up Kit Model C712 C722 with Simplified Pump (X49463-81). The Simplified Pump Tune Up Kit (X56200-10) covers the pump on all soft serve models with a simplified pump, and the C712 takes the Soft Serve Scraper Blade (084350).

Do I need to replace scraper blades every 3 months?

Yes. Every Taylor soft serve manual in this guide lists scraper blades on the 3-month replacement line. Worn blades lose contact with the freezing cylinder, which slows freezing and affects texture, so high-volume sites often replace them sooner. Use the scraper blade chart above to find your model's blade.

What lubricant should I use on a Taylor soft serve machine?

Taylor's manuals call for an approved food-grade lubricant such as Taylor Lube. Use Standard Taylor Performance Lube on non-heat treatment soft serve and slush machines, and High Performance Taylor Lube on heat treatment models.
